FAJR ALARM ("the App", package name com.xinyiwe.fajralarm) is a mobile application developed by XinYiwe Co., Ltd. that calculates Islamic prayer times for your location, plays adhan alarms at prayer times, and shows the Qibla direction with a built-in compass. All prayer-time calculation, alarm scheduling and Qibla direction finding are performed entirely on your device.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.
Overview
FAJR ALARM processes your location, alarm settings and preferences entirely on your device. We do not collect, upload, transmit, or share your location, alarms or settings to our servers or to any third party. The App contains no advertisements and integrates no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. The App has no servers — there is no account, no sign-in and no data sync.
Information the App Uses
Location. Precise/coarse location is requested only to determine your latitude and longitude, which is required to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction. The calculation happens locally on your device; your coordinates are never uploaded or sent anywhere. You may instead pick a city manually from the built-in offline city database, in which case the App does not need location permission at all. You can also enter fixed coordinates manually.
Offline city database. The App ships with a bundled offline city database (name, country, coordinates) stored inside the App package. City search is performed locally; it never contacts a server.
Alarm settings and preferences. Your alarms, calculation-method settings, ringtones, language and display preferences are stored locally on your device (in the App's private storage / local preferences). They are never uploaded and never leave the device.
Compass sensor data. The Qibla compass reads your device's magnetometer readings ephemerally to show the Qibla direction on screen. Sensor data is used only while the compass screen is open, is not stored, and is not transmitted.
Time zone. The App reads your device's current time zone to schedule alarms correctly. This value stays on the device.
Update check. The App may contact the Google Play Store (via the "upgrader" library) to look up the latest published version number and notify you of updates. This is a one-time version lookup and does not send any personal information.
We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, files, or browsing history, and the App requests no other sensitive permissions.
Permissions the App Requests
Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION). Used solely to obtain your coordinates for local prayer-time and Qibla calculations, as described above. Optional — you can choose a city or enter coordinates manually instead.
Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM). Required so the adhan rings at the exact prayer time instead of being delayed by the system.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) & full-screen intent (USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT). Used to notify you and show the alarm screen when a prayer time arrives.
Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED). Used to re-schedule your alarms after the device restarts, so alarms survive a reboot.
Foreground service & media playback. Used to keep playing the adhan/ringtone while the alarm screen is shown.
Vibrate & wake lock. Used to vibrate and wake the screen when an alarm rings.
Ignore battery optimizations (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS). Optional — improves alarm reliability so alarm delivery is not deferred by aggressive battery saving. This permission does not give the App access to any data.
Internet. Used solely for the Play Store update check described above; the App makes no other network calls. Your location and prayers data are never sent over the network.
Data Storage and Retention
All alarms, settings and preferences remain on your device only. Location is used transiently for calculation and is not stored on our side — we have no servers. Nothing is ever sent off the device, except the one-time Play Store version lookup described above.
You can edit or delete alarms and change or revoke permissions at any time from within the App or the system settings. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
No Advertising and No Third-Party Sharing
The App displays no ads.
We do not sell, rent, or share any information with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third parties.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children. Because no personal data leaves the device, no information of any user — including children — is transmitted to us.
Changes to This Policy
If we introduce new features in the future that involve advertising, analytics, or any data transmission off your device, we will update this Policy accordingly and, where required, request your additional consent before such features are enabled.
